Jodhpur, the Blue City

Every journey begins in Jodhpur. Arrive, check in at your hotel (subject to its check-in time) and set out for the forts, palaces and city views.

Day 1 is the same on both journeys:

  • Mehrangarh Fort — the fort and its museums.
  • Jaswant Thada — the marble cenotaph.
  • Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum — the royal collection.
  • Sardar Market & the Clock Tower — an evening stroll and local handicrafts.
  • The Blue City lanes — to explore at leisure.

On the 4N/5D, the morning of Day 2 adds Mandore Gardens and time for any lanes and markets you missed before the drive west.

The road west

The 3N/4D leaves after an early breakfast on Day 2 and drives on to Jaisalmer. The 4N/5D leaves later, around 12–1 PM, after the Mandore morning.

Jaisalmer War Memorial sits on the road into the Golden City: it is a planned stop on the 4N/5D and possible on the 3N/4D if time permits. Travel time depends on road conditions and sightseeing stops.

From blue to golden.

Day 2 · both itineraries

Jaisalmer, the Golden City

Fort lanes, carved sandstone havelis and Gadisar Lake after dark. Jaisalmer is also the gateway to everything that follows — Kuldhara, the Sam dunes, Tanot and Longewala.

The city fills Day 2 of the 3N/4D, and Days 2 and 3 of the 4N/5D:

  • Jaisalmer Fort — fort lanes and golden walls.
  • Patwon Ki Haveli — carved sandstone.
  • Salim Singh & Nathmal Ki Haveli — additional highlights on the 4N/5D, time permitting.
  • Gadisar Lake — your included boat ride and the lakeside views.

Kuldhara village

A village stop near Jaisalmer, and one that sits at a different point on each journey.

On the 4N/5D you visit Kuldhara on Day 3, en route from Jaisalmer to the Sam dunes. On the 3N/4D it comes on the last morning, after you check out of the desert camp and before the drive back to Jodhpur.

Sam Sand Dunes

The dunes west of Jaisalmer are where the desert days happen. Check in at Sam Desert Camp, enjoy your included camel safari and jeep safari — timings are coordinated locally — and stay for the sunset across the dunes.

Dinner comes with Rajasthani folk music, cultural dance and a bonfire evening at the camp. On the 4N/5D, the dunes are also where you spend Night 4: dinner, music and a bonfire, then beds and bedding in the open air, with no tent roof above you.

The border road: Tanot & Longewala

Both journeys include a day out to Tanot Mata Temple and the historic Longewala battlefield and memorial — Day 3 on the 3N/4D, leaving Jaisalmer early, and Day 4 on the 4N/5D, setting out from the dunes.

Border-area visits remain subject to permissions and local conditions; on the 4N/5D, local village and last-cafe stops are subject to the route and access. More broadly, sightseeing order may change with arrival timings, weather, road conditions and local access.

Every journey ends where it began, back in Jodhpur for drop-off. Coordinate your onward train or flight timing with Tripclic before booking.
