3N/4D or 4N/5D? Choosing your Jodhpur–Jaisalmer journey
Same start, same finish, different nights. How the two Rajasthan itineraries differ — and who each one suits.

Same start, same finish
Both journeys leave every Friday from Jodhpur and bring you back to Jodhpur for drop-off. The 3N/4D returns on Monday; the 4N/5D returns on Tuesday. In between, both cross to Jaisalmer and the Sam dunes by SUV or Tempo Traveller.
Choose the 3N/4D if you have four days and want the full route at a brisker pace: Mehrangarh, Jaisalmer Fort, Gadisar Lake, Tanot and Longewala, the safaris and an evening at the desert camp.
Choose the 4N/5D if you can give it a fifth day. It adds a slower Jodhpur morning, more time in Jaisalmer and a night in the open desert.
Night by night
The first three nights are the same on both journeys. The 4N/5D adds a fourth, spent in the open desert:
- 3N/4D — Night 1: Jodhpur hotel · Night 2: Jaisalmer hotel · Night 3: Sam Desert Camp.
- 4N/5D — Night 1: Jodhpur hotel · Night 2: Jaisalmer hotel · Night 3: Sam Desert Camp · Night 4: the open desert, under the stars.
Exact hotels and room category are confirmed in your booking quotation, whichever journey you choose.

Day 2: straight to the Golden City, or a slower start
On the 3N/4D, Day 2 begins with an early breakfast and the drive from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer. You arrive, settle in and go straight into the city: Jaisalmer Fort and Patwon Ki Haveli, a stop at Jaisalmer War Memorial en route if time permits, and your included boat ride at Gadisar Lake.
On the 4N/5D, the morning stays in Jodhpur. After breakfast you visit Mandore Gardens and any Blue City lanes and markets you missed, then leave around 12–1 PM, stopping at Jaisalmer War Memorial on the way in.
The 4N/5D evening is for the views at Gadisar Lake; the boat ride, the fort and the havelis follow on Day 3, with Salim Singh and Nathmal Ki Haveli as additional highlights, time permitting.
Tanot & Longewala: Day 3 or Day 4
Both journeys visit Tanot Mata Temple and the historic Longewala battlefield and memorial — on different days.
On the 3N/4D it is Day 3. You leave Jaisalmer early after breakfast, visit Tanot and Longewala, then drive to Sam Sand Dunes for the camel safari, the jeep safari, sunset and a folk-music evening at the camp. Kuldhara follows on Day 4, on the way back to Jodhpur.
On the 4N/5D it is Day 4. You reach Sam on Day 3 via Kuldhara, wake up on the dunes, enjoy the included safaris as scheduled, then set out for Tanot and Longewala. On both journeys, border-area visits remain subject to permissions and local conditions.
The open-desert night
This is the clearest difference between the two. On the 4N/5D, after the Tanot and Longewala day, you return to the dunes for dinner, music and a bonfire, then sleep in the open air: beds and bedding are provided, with no tent roof above you.
Star visibility depends on weather and sky conditions, and the night is spent outdoors, so carry warm layers and personal essentials. The 3N/4D has no open-desert overnight — its third night is at Sam Desert Camp.
The Christmas and New Year special batches run on the 4N/5D only.
